It depends mostly on the material and the footage. Published national guides, checked November 2026, range from about $8 per foot for basic chain link to about $55 per foot for aluminum or wrought iron, with block walls priced by the square foot of wall. There is no dated, Riverside-only price survey we trust, so treat these as a starting point and get a written estimate.

What moves the price on a Riverside job?
- Block walls. Priced by wall face area, and footings grow with height.
- Slopes. Hillside lots in Canyon Crest and similar areas need stepped panels or retaining.
- Long runs. Larger lots in La Sierra mean more footage and wider gates.
- Openness rules. Front fences above 3 feet must be mostly open, which shapes the material.
- Removal. Old walls and fences have to come out first.
How do I get a firm number?
Measure the run roughly, decide on height and the number of gates, and note whether an old fence or wall is coming out. Then ask for an estimate that prices each of those as its own line.
